Event
Live event production, immersive experiences, activations: the world of experiential marketing is filled with seemingly simple jargon that can make it hard to know what you actually need to look for when you’re thinking of immersing your brand into it. To help make things clearer, we’ll start by defining and explaining every aspect of live event production companies: perhaps the most “obvious” extension of the industry. But what do they actually do, and what should you look out for when looking into hiring one?
Live event production companies design, coordinate, and execute the technical and logistical elements of an event. Live events are a very complex, intertwined ecosystem, and production companies take on the entire journey, from planning and designing the creative aspects and then implementing them in real life, to filming the event, often simultaneously streaming it online, and at times even delivering a broadcast-ready cut of the event to media partners. Think venue scouting, AV elements, lighting, staging, backdrops, and more. Then, add on all the logistics, such as potential weather disruptions or security and permitting challenges. Whether it's for a corporate gala, a product launch, a massive cultural moment, or a live performance, event production companies ensure they deliver a captivating, impactful experience reflective of the brand or the occasion.
A great event production company should not be just a business you hire; they should be a partner tasked with delivering an experience reflective of not only your brand ethos but also aligned with your company’s broader business goals. They should tell a story using design and production elements, orchestrating an emotional connection with the target audience, increasing engagement, and fostering lasting customer loyalty, connection, and fandom. So, given the scope of responsibilities, the delicacy and intricacy of the process, and the importance of delivering it just right, working with the right production company will make or break your event. When looking for one, look out for:
1. Experience
Goes without saying, but a track record of delivering a full spectrum of events is essential. Not to say you can’t give a brand new company a chance, but considering the size of the investment, you want to minimize the risk and maximize your peace of mind — though not at the expense of the event. Choose a company with a track record of delivering ambitious experiences with operational precision.
2. Understanding of the Industry
It’s one thing to have general experience in experiential marketing, but has the production company worked in your industry, specifically? If you’re a sportswear brand, it might be best to go with a company that’s produced sports-related events. If you’re a beauty brand, look for any innovative beauty-related experiences in their portfolio. So on and so forth.
3. Cross-Disciplinary Fluency
There are many companies able to design and pitch the most ambitious, visually stunning events. But, at times, when the process gets underway, the execution is poor. That’s because creative excellence means nothing without understanding the production complexities that delivering it will require. On the other hand, you don’t want a company that’s known purely for production quality, because you can’t have a unique, resonant moment without creative and visual wow-factor. The event simply won’t connect, impress, or convert. So, look for a company able to deliver across all elements: creativity that’s designed with production feasibility in mind. You shouldn’t have to compromise on creative ambition or on the absolute precision of its delivery.
4. Cultural and Technological Connection
The event production industry is swiftly evolving. The Experience economy is valued at $1 trillion, with expected growth of over $200 billion in the next four years, so the biggest brands and companies are rushing to get ahead of the competition in the field that matters the most. New developments happen all the time, so make sure the company you hire stays up to date with the latest cultural trends and technologies, so it is able to deliver the most modern, engaging, and effective event experience.
5. Strategy-First Mindset
Does the company start by listening to your business goals and considering them when designing the experience? Do they conduct background research to better understand your audience and your brand? Good event production work starts weeks before the first sketch is ever made, with thorough research into what kind of experience would best serve and represent the business. Companies that skip this step will create a one-off experience for the sake of it — not something strategic, meant to represent your brand and amplify your message.
As a company that’s been in business for 17 years (and counting), owning in-house AV and production facilities for over 13, we're well-versed in the complexities of the event production ecosystem and in delivering experiences with precision no matter what.
In 2025, we helped FIFA launch the World Cup campaign in the US by representing them at Fanatics Fest, placing their activation in the top 3 of the 200,000-person event. We told the company’s story and showcased the history of the World Cup using interactive technology and notable guests, attracting over 55,000 people and transforming casual event observers into excited FIFA fans.
In the same year, we completely transformed Bourbon Street for a seven-day, record-breaking Super Bowl LIX activation for Fox Sports. We merged an exciting, in-person celebration with live broadcasting, managing weather disruptions and increased security protocols in one of the country’s most challenging locations without any operational disruptions. The activation also included Lady Gaga’s pre-recorded tribute honoring the victims of the New Year’s attack in New Orleans, Hurricane Helene, and the Los Angeles wildfires, which later earned a Sports Emmy.
We also helped Helena Moreno, New Orleans’ first Latina mayor, celebrate her inauguration by designing a unifying theme that reflected her campaign and also represented her upcoming tenure. Similarly, we successfully navigated weather disruptions, location logistics, broadcast integration, stepping away from the expected, usual closed-door donor celebrations, and instead delivering an experience that involved the entire city and generated a buzz that crossed state lines and was talked about for months in political circles.
At a time of digital fatigue, oversaturation of digital content, and audiences’ rising desire to interact in person, showing up in real life is a business investment that’s not just smart but increasingly essential. But doing it the right way makes all the difference. Show up wrong — with unimpressive design, lack of ambition, or poor execution — and all of your investment will have gone to waste, generating negative PR and failing to create a lasting connection with guests. Look no further than the Barbie Dream Fest that became a nightmare. Working with the right event production company is essential to showing up in a way that actually matters.
