Danny Thomas / ALSAC Pavilion

The ALSAC Foundation, in collaboration with St. Jude Children's Hospital, partnered with Solomon Group on three projects to honor the legacy of Danny Thomas, who founded the hospital in 1957 with the belief that no child should die in the dawn of life.

One of these projects was the Danny Thomas/ALSAC Pavilion, located on the hospital campus. The Pavilion serves as a place of learning, repose, and reflection, sharing the personal stories of patients and families while welcoming visitors from around the world to the hospital.

The Pavilion building had not been modernized in over 20 years, which presented a unique challenge for our AV experts. We needed to develop a modern, disaster-proof, and flexible AV solution that could bring ALSAC's vision for their new exhibits to life. To accomplish this, we worked closely with exhibit designers Haizlip Studio and media designers Balance Studios to create iterative concepts that aligned with ALSAC's goals. We completed the first phase of software and hardware experiences throughout the massive 45,000 sq ft space in just six months.

The Middle-East inspired domed building also presented a challenge when it came to AV content, which had to be custom-built to fit around semi-circular surfaces. Our AV team rose to the occasion, providing a modern and functional solution that met ALSAC's needs.

Additionally, Solomon Group's in-house fabrication capabilities proved invaluable when ALSAC wanted to create custom signs and cases dedicated to the memorabilia from Danny Thomas' television career and the iconic Foundation he built. Our team worked closely with ALSAC to ensure that these exhibits were carefully crafted and aligned with their vision.

Ultimately, the ALSAC team was impressed with the modernization of their traditional exhibits and how we reinvigorated their iconic building. They called us back for additional renovations and temporary exhibitions, which we were happy to provide. It was an honor to partner with ALSAC and St. Jude Children's Hospital on such an important project that honors the legacy of Danny Thomas and the incredible work of St. Jude.
